At a young age, Regina had an unquenchable love for science.  Over the years with support from family, friends, and mentors she was able to find her passion of caring for patients.

She was encouraged by one of her mentors, Dr. Brenda Armstrong:

“Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.”-Ralph Waldo Emerson

Dr. Monroe has blazed a trail as the first African-American female to complete urologic surgical training at the Duke University Medical Center. She was the first African-American to complete a pediatric urology fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.  She has been in her role as a practicing pediatric urologist for Prisma Health since 2010 and most recently appointed the Medical Director of pediatric urology in 2018.  She credits her success to her faith, family, and fitness. She is an active member of Relentless Church in Greenville, South Carolina. She and her husband enjoy running and biking in the upstate community.
