Gospel On The Block

Feat. Duane Neal

January 14, 2016

Duane was born in Washington, D.C. in 1961 to Mary Ellen Neal and the late Clarence Neal. In 1968, just after Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was shot and killed, riots started breaking out all around his neighborhood. So his parents pack up his 3 sisters and 1 brother one evening and  moved everyone to Greenville, SC where he has been living ever since. Duane met JESUS when he was 14 years old and has been living his life for him ever since.

Over the years, in SC and NC, Duane has hosted a numerous amount of Choir Anniversaries, Church Banquets, Outdoor Festivals such as Freedom Weekend Aloft, and major Concerts. He has also created commercials for 1073 Jamz and voiceover television commercials with FOX Carolina. In 1993 he became a part of the Gospel Announcers Guild, which is a division of the Gospel Music Workshop of America. Duane has worked with E. Ray Promotions, the Southeast’s largest Gospel promotions company, as an on stage host or behind stage assistant for more than 22 years for Spirit Fest. Because of these 2 connections, there is no big name in the Gospel music Industry that Duane has not come in contact with at some point or another.

Duane’s favorite scripture is Philippians 4:13 ‘I Can Do All Things thru Christ Who Strengthens Me’. “I never believe that I can’t do anything, because I always quote this scripture.” Duane does what he can to spread this same message to the many that he comes in contact with everywhere he goes, even at work. “I know what GOD has done for me and my family, and I Praise His name every day for his blessings! So I do what I can to encourage others as they too go thru their own journey in this life”. Gospel Music has spoken to my heart, comforted my spirit and kept me encouraged when things were difficult and pleasant in my life, and I will always Bless GOD for speaking to me in song!.”
