Road Trip to Greenwood with Miranda

March 2, 2018

The Block decided to go on a road trip each week to highlight places in SC that you and your family could travel to and have more of a conversation about African American History. This week we traveled to The Benjamin E. Mays Historical Preservation site that is located in Greenwood SC. It was established on the campus of GLEAMNS Human Resources Commission which is located in the old African-American  Brewer Hospital before desegregation. At the location you can find the  the home that Dr. Mays lived in with his parents, a museum, and part of the old  Brewer School which has its origins back to 1872 which is adjacent to the site.

A free site that you will want to visit and experience first hand. If you bring your children...make sure to show them the wall that lists the 56 doctorate degrees he obtained too!!
