Recap from What's Happening on the Block this week. I was fortunate to interview the founder of Caring and Nurturing a nonprofit organization  about how they are helping youth from 1st graders to 12th graders in Easley and surrounding areas. They are assisting with mentoring the youth, a clothes ministry and a FREE event that is coming to the Upstate on July 15th 11AM-3PM at West C Ave in Easley! The event will have entertainment, resources for the whole family and a book bag giveaway for the youth!! Parents will also have a chance to win prizes that day as well. The founder revealed on my show that being a foster parent and caring for young boys that were in her house were one of the motivators to starting her organization and making it a mission to "care and nurture" each child that their organization comes in contact with. Make sure to visit this organization to learn more at  www.caringandnuturing.org

Another organization that was on What's Happening this week was The Power is Giving nonprofit organization! Such a neat organization that is a Mother daughter duo that works together to make sure that they are creating a movement to instill the power of giving with the community and nationally. Not only are they creating opportunities for people to give they are also making sure fitness and health are major factors.  It was great to meet Nadia a young woman who not only is the co-founder of this organization but to learn that she currently a tennis athlete , works multiple jobs, and sees the importance of pouring back into the community. Her drive and compassion is evidant in what she has been doing this year and for the Free event and drop in.  The event will be July 17th 9AM-1PM at Cleveland Park Tennis Courts in Greenville where people can come out for music, fitness, and learn tennis!! To learn more check them it out at www.powerisgiving.org
